A pool is the clearest example of a feature that is worth a great deal to the buyer who wants one and slightly negative to the buyer who does not. That split is why pool homes sit differently in the market than their comparables suggest, and why they are worth searching for directly.
Ontario requires a compliant enclosure around a pool, and most municipalities in Durham require a permit for the fence as well as the pool. If you are buying one, the questions worth asking early are the age of the liner and heater, whether the enclosure meets the current by-law, and what the insurer wants to see.
